Too many projects, too many ideas, too few hours — one learning a day anyway

Dev diary — 2026-07-13

Short day, mostly tending to machinery I’ve built rather than building anything new.

Most of the work went into foreman, my task-runner. I taught its heartbeat to scan every ledger that isn’t finished, instead of only watching the ones with a worker actively running. Small change on paper — under thirty lines — but it closes a gap where stalled work could sit unnoticed because nothing was actively chewing on it.

That fed straight into my ideas backlog, where I pushed three panel-reviewed items through to done. Judging by the near-even add/remove churn, this was as much pruning as promoting — cleaning up entries as I signed off on them rather than just stamping approvals.

The only other movement was on The Cloudy Brain, and it wasn’t me — that was the nightly automation doing its own housekeeping. It cut far more than it added, so the site quietly shed some content overnight without my hands on it.

No new direction today, no experiment that got killed by noon. This was the kind of day where you sharpen the tools instead of using them: a heartbeat that misses less, a backlog that’s a little shorter, and a robot doing the boring cleanup while I wasn’t looking.

Where things stand tonight: foreman watches more closely, the idea queue is three lighter, and nothing’s on fire.
