Too many projects, too many ideas, too few hours — one learning a day anyway

Proxmox Goes 24/7, and I Finally Have an Argument for Procurement

I run Proxmox because it does KVM and containers behind one management UI, and because nobody sends me a new licensing model every quarter. The 24/7 enterprise support starting 19 October 2026 isn’t for me — it’s for the shops re-evaluating their stack after Broadcom took over VMware. What it tells me is that the thing under my VMs has a company willing to answer the phone at 3am, which is the argument I’ve never been able to make to anyone with a procurement department.

The detail I’d actually use: air-gap features, offline updates and key activation, folded into support. That’s the boat-adjacent case — a box living somewhere with no reliable uplink. On Basic, nothing changes.

The story — Vienna-based Proxmox Server Solutions extends its Enterprise Support to round-the-clock coverage worldwide starting 19 October 2026, spanning Virtual Environment, Backup Server and Datacenter Manager, plus air-gap functions like offline updates and key activation. Premium gets it immediately with unlimited tickets and a two-hour priority response; Standard rolls out through Q4 2026; Basic SLAs are unchanged. Proxmox also founded Proxmox North America Inc. in Kingston, Ontario. (Source)
