Most of the day went into A Wine App, roughly 25k new lines, but the best part was taking things away. Approving a user contribution used to trigger a full catalogue publish off a marker that had sat stale for five months. Three approvals did exactly that, so publishing is a deliberate act again. A stranger’s correction also no longer outranks every future scrape of that wine. It informs the catalogue now instead of overruling it.
The new work leaned the same way. The cellar value card totals only prices we scraped ourselves, with no estimates, and it says what it doesn’t know. It’s on both iOS and Android. Orange wine became its own colour instead of hiding its tannin as a white, and 5,657 bottlings got their proper house names. A flaky glasses-app test turned out to be caused by a signing setting, not the new iOS.
Behind that, the ideas repo churned through hundreds of bookkeeping commits, including a review that retired seven stalled plans. mywine-ecosystem, the map of the app’s moving parts, caught up after the scrapers moved into the main app. Plus small passes on Foreman (its panel rebuilt), HomeControl (six review findings acted on), marine-route-planning, The Cloudy Brain and Sodalis.
Tonight the catalogue says only what it can back up, and nothing publishes unless I ask.
