The day’s real work was dennismilton.com, and it was mostly me arguing with a page. I built a calling card as one skeleton with four looks behind a render gate, then spent twenty-two commits demolishing my own choices. The name was 124px against a 30px opening sentence — a 4:1 ratio in favour of the person over the work — so I demoted it, rebalanced it, and eventually settled on one Swiss design with a quiet name. I dropped the one-screen variant, threw out the four-variant stylesheets, replaced a CV-like layout with something editorial, and swapped a headline that named a field for one that names an actual job title.
A Wine App took +41k lines, which sounds heroic and mostly wasn’t — corpus work and triage. I read 25 TestFlight screenshots from builds 121–154 one by one and fixed fourteen. The instructive bit: I built an offline mirror of the producer list in the morning and deleted the matching tools the same day, going back to the API. Meanwhile The Cloudy Brain caught two findings where an absence of data got scored as evidence — an empty mailbox search, and a pairing engine that ranked wines by whether we held traits on them rather than by the food. Plus small passes on Havnetryk, Foreman, a wine-app alias-list fix, and twelve commits of idea-wrangling.
Tonight the site is one design instead of four, and I stopped underselling twenty years.
