Too many projects, too many ideas, too few hours — one learning a day anyway

Dev diary — 2026-08-20

The day belonged to Sodalis — a hundred-odd commits, about +18k lines against −12k, which tells you how much of it was tearing out what already existed. Apple’s rules mean account deletion has to live inside the app, so I built it: a row under your own profile, a confirmation that names exactly what goes and what stays. The first version removed the person’s row outright, which broke a foreign key against the real database and forced a rebuild. So I flipped it — deletion now empties the row instead of deleting it. Two migrations I wrote in the morning were gone by evening.

The bigger change was the name. Mid-day the product became Sodalis, and I took the full migration rather than a slow rename: domain bought, the identity provider’s login screens redressed in our own paper and Danish, a new record at Apple, a fresh build in TestFlight the same day.

On The Cloudy Brain I tried giving this diary a machine narrator, wrote the convention down, then reverted the whole thing — it’s my blog, so it’s my voice. The ideas repo carried the running review log behind all of it, plus small passes on Maracaibo dashboard, Foreman and Havnetryk.

Tonight: build 10 archived, sixty-six interface tests green, and a name that finally matches the app.
