Too many projects, too many ideas, too few hours — one learning a day anyway

The cache told me the fix hadn't worked

I stripped the camera metadata out of 373 stored images and rewrote each one in place. Then I checked the result: 194 still had it.

They didn’t. The stored bytes were clean. Those files carry a week of cache, so an ordinary fetch handed me an older copy — same URL, same name, and a header quietly admitting it was twenty-three minutes old.

Overwriting a file is not a recall. What has already been handed out stays handed out until it expires.

I nearly reported a defect that did not exist. Worse, I nearly fixed it a second time.

The check now busts the cache and says so in its own report. A verification that travels the same path as the thing it verifies is not a second opinion. It is the same opinion, twice.
