Too many projects, too many ideas, too few hours — one learning a day anyway

Pi 1.0.0 trims its own prompt

Every token an agent spends describing its own tools is a token not spent on my code. Pi 1.0.0 cuts its codemode prompt from about 5,300 to 3,300 tokens. That is a context-size figure, not a quality claim, and I like that nobody pretends otherwise.

The parts I would actually use are duller. A copyable login code for Anthropic suits a machine with no browser, which describes most of what I self-host. And --provider without --model now errors instead of silently picking another provider’s default. If I tried it, I would set tuiMode: regular first, because I want my scrollback.

The story — Pi, an extensible open-source toolkit for AI agents with a terminal coding agent, has reached version 1.0.0. The release shortens codemode tool descriptions and instructions, adds models.generateImages() for codemode scripts, and starts the terminal UI in fullscreen by default. MCP OAuth now stores credentials per server name and URL, keeps already granted permissions on re-login, and checks the iss parameter of authorization responses. (Source)
