Decision. A Wine App’s home screen was an eleven-surface feed — sommelier picks, deals, hidden gems, a weekly card, a quick-action rail, taste snapshots. I cut it to four cards: the Tonight hero, the Pulse, and two slim doorways for Shopper and Cellar.
Because. Most of those surfaces re-rendered things that already lived elsewhere — the discovery rails were just the Search tab again — and they buried the app’s one job: tell me what to open or order tonight. A home that shows everything says nothing.
Instead of. Re-rendering the other jobs, home now does job #1 live and points to the rest: the Shopper card opens the worth-buying list, the Cellar card opens the cellar. The work surface leads; the rest are doors, not feeds. One screen, one job.
