Too many projects, too many ideas, too few hours — one learning a day anyway

DietPi 10.7 finally makes multi-interface networking bearable

The reworked dietpi-network is the part I care about. Setting up multiple Ethernet and WLAN interfaces with proper routing has always been the thing that pushed me off a nice slim SBC image onto something heavier. Onboard, that’s exactly the shape of the problem: one interface to the boat network, one to a phone hotspot, and routing that has to decide which one is live.

The other half of this release is a warning. USB-2.0 and USB-C ports stopped working on Orange Pi 5 and 5B from 10.5 onward — several releases of a board quietly half-broken. So: run dietpi-update, take the backup it offers. First run is slow, later ones are minutes. Cheap insurance against shuffled kernel modules and overlays.

The story — DietPi 10.7, the Linux distribution for single-board computers like the Raspberry Pi and Orange Pi or Radxa boards, arrived last weekend on its monthly cycle. It adds ARMv8 VM support, new container files, the Rockchip RK3588S-based LubanCat 4, and HomeBox and Scrypted bundles. dietpi-network was reworked for multi-interface setups. Fixes cover ignored dtparam entries under DRM/KMS, broken Orange Pi 5 USB ports, plus Ampache, WiringPi, Roon Bridge and Immich. (Source)
