Too many projects, too many ideas, too few hours — one learning a day anyway

Dev diary — 2026-08-28

Most of yesterday went into A Wine App, and it was the least glamorous kind of good day: deleting things. The design system already had a canonical card style, documented and sitting there — and 78 places had each drawn their own anyway. So I swept them into the library, then did the same for the pill shape (hand-drawn 155 times across 54 files) and the label-and-value row. Hand-rolled card surfaces went from 78 in the morning to 16. Along the way the UI tests turned out to be lying in three separate ways, which had been hiding a broken sign-in, and a placeholder logo got deleted before anyone mistook it for the real one. Build 144 is in TestFlight.

Sodalis got the bigger pile of new code. Organiser permissions are now properly fenced to the events someone actually organises, seventeen club routes collapsed into one piece of scaffolding, and pressing Save twice stopped creating two records. Apple rejected build 46 outright because the 1.0 release train was closed, so I cut 1.1 and kept going — by build 48, push notifications were working end to end.

Elsewhere I added a mail-driven content door to The Cloudy Brain, plus small passes on Havnetryk and the ideas repo.

Tonight: two apps in TestFlight, and a lot less duplicated code than yesterday.
