Too many projects, too many ideas, too few hours — one learning a day anyway

Dev diary — 2026-08-24

Sodalis ate the whole day: 15 commits and a net five thousand lines deleted. The big move was finishing the break from the third-party login service — sign-in now runs on open standards, fully in-house. And once that landed, the knives came out: I dropped the passkey option entirely mid-day, slimmed the login screen down to Apple, Email and Google, then went back through the server, shared code and iOS app ripping out every dead route, unused function and leftover test shortcut the old setup had accumulated. Two fresh builds went to TestFlight before the evening was over.

The other half of the Sodalis work was making the demo honest: a fully sandboxed demo user and demo club with realistic example data and zero access to real members, orphaned accounts hard-deleted rather than left as ghosts, and a complete screen-by-screen map of the app documented with 35 live simulator screenshots.

Elsewhere it was maintenance: Havnetryk got a heavy rework of its nightly data export, The Cloudy Brain shed a chunk of old content, plus small passes on Foreman and a reshuffle in the ideas repo.

Tonight: Sodalis is leaner, self-reliant on auth, and sitting on TestFlight waiting for feedback.
