Too many projects, too many ideas, too few hours — one learning a day anyway

Dev diary — 2026-06-13

Spent the day on The Cloudy Brain, and most of it went into building rather than fixing — a solid +650 lines, nearly all of it new.

The headline, literally, was bad news I had to log: access to Fable 5 / Mythos 5 got suspended under an export-control order. So that went into the news pile as a fact of life, not something I could engineer around.

The real work was the revision lane, and I’m happy with how it landed. The setup already had a skeptic that picks apart a draft and files its objections. What was missing was the other half of the argument. Now, once the skeptic has made its case, the co-writer gets asked for exactly one revision that answers those objections — and crucially, the original draft never gets touched. The revision lives off to the side in its own file, and both versions show up next to each other. You see the first swing and the answer to the criticism side by side, instead of one quietly overwriting the other. That restraint — one revision, original untouched — is the part I care about; it keeps the whole thing honest and reviewable instead of a black box that just hands you a “better” version.

The nightly automation did its usual pass on top of all that.

Where things stand tonight: the revision lane is in and the writer-versus-skeptic loop finally closes the way I wanted. The model-access suspension is the open question hanging over everything — nothing I can build my way past, just something to watch.
