Too many projects, too many ideas, too few hours — one learning a day anyway

Dev diary — 2026-06-19

Most of today went into A Wine App. It was a big build day — roughly +3.6k lines, and almost all of it new ground rather than reworking what was already there. The work spread across a lot of the app at once: the core wine engine, the operational plumbing, the admin side, the docs, and the iOS layer. When that many areas move together it usually means I was laying foundation rather than polishing — wiring up new surfaces and writing down how they fit while the shape was still fresh in my head.

I’m not going to pretend the single nightly snapshot tells me the blow-by-blow of what got tried and discarded. What it does show is breadth: this wasn’t a focused one-corner day, it was a push to stand up several pieces in parallel so they’d have something to connect to.

The other thread was The Cloudy Brain, and that one was a different kind of work entirely. Small footprint, but heavy churn — about as much removed as added, all in the content. That’s the signature of rewriting rather than adding: tearing out something that wasn’t working and putting better words in its place. Judging by the even split between additions and deletions, I was reshaping existing material, not growing it.

So one project grew outward and one got reworked in place. A building day on the wine side, an editing day on the brain.

Where things stand tonight: the wine app has a lot of new scaffolding up but it’s young — plenty wired in, still needs to be walked through and proven. The Cloudy Brain is leaner and sharper than it was this morning.
